Jaguar F-Pace SVR goes on sale in May at £74,835
Jaguar F-Pace SVR
On sale: May
As if having Baby Driver star Ansel Elgort driving its new electric I-Pace in New York wasn’t cool enough, Jaguar stole the limelight at the show with this F-Pace SVR flagship.
The F-Pace has been Jaguar’s fastest-ever selling car and currently accounts for some 42 per cent of all of its sales worldwide.
This gorgeous new sporty SVR version is sure to continue that success. With a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine with 550bhp, it certainly won’t be for the shy and retiring, as it can race from 0 to 60mph in just 4.1 seconds and on to a 176mph top speed.
With aggressively sporty styling, bonnet vents and huge 22-inch alloy wheels, it certainly looks the part.
As is now traditional for its SVR models, Jaguar has uprated the suspension and brakes together with its on-board electronic systems to make it as involving as ever, together with a sports exhaust and a specially tuned four-wheel drive system to engage drivers still further. If it goes half as well as it looks, we can’t wait to climb behind the wheel.
Mercedes C-Class Coupe and Cabriolet goes on sale: in July and priced from £30,000
Mercedes C-Class Coupe and Cabriolet
On sale: July
Price: est from £30,000
Mercedes has followed up its unveiling of the new C-Class saloon and estate at the Geneva Motor Show with this Coupe and Cabriolet from its small saloon family.
Together with a sportier new-look front and rear, the C-Class Coupe gets a mild-hybrid system for some of its engines, together with standard LED headlights and an all-new digital cockpit.
Things are no less mouth-watering under the bonnet, either, with two new AMG models in C43 and C63 forms, the latter boasting 510bhp.
With air suspension and the same driver assistance systems borrowed from the larger S-Class, the new C-Class looks more refined and appealing than ever.
Volvo V60 goes on sale in September and priced from £31,810
Volvo V60 On sale: September Price: from £31,810
Is Volvo’s design department one of the best in the automotive business right now? We certainly think so.
The Swedish firm’s brilliant crossover/4×4 range won’t steal all the sales though, with stunners like this V60 estate in showrooms. We already love the existing larger V90 and this V60 is effectively more of the same but just slightly smaller.
Although there will be two turbo-diesel models to begin with, the big news for the V60, and especially given the way the current market is going, is that there will be two plug-in hybrid models in the T6 and T8, with 340bhp or 390bhp.
Subaru Forester goes on sale in late 2019 and priced from £27,500
On sale: late 2019
Price: est from £27,500
Over time, the Subaru Forester has gone from a high-rise, off-roading estate car to a fully fledged off-roader.
With the rise in SUV sales and the Japanese firm’s reputation in this 4×4 market, it’s easy to see this latest generation of Forester doing well in showrooms.
With Subaru’s relative minnow status in a rapidly growing sector, this is definitely an alternative purchase.
Some of the plastics inside could be better but Subaru’s strong name in the 4×4 world is sure to win it plenty of fans.
Toyota RAV4 goes on sale in 2019 and priced from £27,000
On sale: 2019
Price: est from £27,000
While Toyota’s RAV4 might have arguably started the trend for the urban and trendy 4×4, there’s no doubt that it has become rather more anonymous in recent generations.
This all-new, fifth-generation model, though, is something completely different. Moving away from those more conservative lines of before, this latest RAV4 is funkier and looks to have got its mojo back, with lots of sharp edges.
It has many personalisation options, and will be available with both pure petrol and also hybrid engines, with Toyota having announced earlier this month that it was moving away from diesel power.
That’s not the only change, either, as Toyota is promising better off-road ability than before too.
Audi RS5 goes on sale in the winter and priced from £64,000
On sale: Winter
Price: est from £64,000
Audi’s on-going presence in the super-saloon market continues with the arrival of another RS model in the form of this stunning new RS5 Sportback.
Powered by a twin-turbo, 2.9-litre V6 engine, the RS5 boasts a massive 444bhp giving it an incredible 0-to-60mph time of just 3.9 seconds and on to a 174mph top speed.
It boasts the looks to go with that performance, too, with wider wheel arches, lowered suspension and large 20in alloy wheels.
Hyundai Tucson goes on sale in August and priced from £20,000
On sale: August
Price: est from £20,000
Along with its Korean cousin, the Kia Sportage, we’ve always been big fans of the Hyundai Tucson in all its forms.
With the continued rise in appetite of all things crossover and 4×4-related in showrooms, the arrival of this new Tucson could be perfect timing.
While it may look like a simple facelift, the reality is that it’s so much more, with a new front and rear and fully redesigned interior.
Under the bonnet there are new engines and there will be a mild-hybrid version on offer as Hyundai continues to expand its hybrid and all-electric range.
