The Auto Express New Car Awards 2018 have been announced, recognising the best new vehicles on the road this year.
There is a total of 32 different categories ranging from Small SUV of the Year to the Technology Award.
However, it is the Car of the Year 2018 crown that most carmakers are striving for.
To achieve this accolade Auto Express says a car “has to change the automotive industry for the better and force its competitors to re-evaluate.”
This year the winner was the Jaguar I-Pace, the first electric car from the carmaker.

While it may be surprising that an electric car took the top title, it is a little less so when you dig into the car a bit.
Editor-in-chief Steve Fowler said that the EV was “the most exciting new car.”
He added:“We love the way it looks, the space and quality of the interior and most of all that it drives exactly how a modern-day Jaguar should – it’s fantastic fun,” he added.
“On top of all that, it’ll cover city-to-city distances on a single charge in complete comfort – it’s a massively impressive car that bodes well for our electric future.”
I-Pace boasts performance that would be the envy of sports cars, a completely usable range, that sits at the higher end of current EVs and solid styling that bucks the trend of making an EV that screams it is battery-powered.
The I-Pace will cost between £58,995-£76,995
Jaguar has utilised its expertise of creating luxury cars and applied to an electric vehicle, much quicker than a lot of its rivals.
It goes on sale this month with prices ranging from £58,995-£76,995.
Powering the car is a 90kWh battery pack that achieves a range of around 298-miles.
The car can charge from 0 to 60mph in 4.5 seconds and on to a 124mph top speed.
Ian Callum, Jaguar’s Director of Design, said: “We started with a blank canvas and the goal of creating the world’s most desirable electric vehicle and recognition like this from Auto Express shows that the I-PACE certainly meets that challenge.
“What I’m most proud of is that we have created a Jaguar first and foremost, a Jaguar that happens to be electric.
“The I-Pace has all of the stunning design cues, characteristics and breadth of dynamic capability that is inherent in our vehicles. It is the Jaguar of the future, here today.
